The Transformative Power of Helping Others: Beyond Traditional Marketing Tactics (4-min)

As I continue the search for an acquisition in Tennessee, I returned to an old hobby.
Offering help.
And wouldn’t you know. It turned into ~$15k a month in reoccurring revenue.
Below is the core philosophy—I won’t call it a strategy, because that makes it seem intentional. It’s not.

In an age where businesses are incessantly bombarded with advice on how to grow their customer base—through more advertisements, cold calls, and direct messages—it's easy to get caught up in an endless cycle of self-focused promotion.
When you’re an A-type, hard-charging, entrepreneur you DO NOT FEEL RIGHT unless you are busy. SO…
You do a bunch of outreach and ads, and then you do more. And you talk to some leads…
And then you wonder why it isn’t working like Alex Hormozi said it would.
There's a profound, often overlooked strategy that not only transcends traditional marketing methods but also enriches both the giver and receiver:

HELP OTHERS
An approach that isn't about action for the sake of action, as with relentless advertising or outreach efforts.
Instead try action for someone's sake, a deeply human-centric way to engage with the world that can unravel a multitude of benefits for individuals and businesses alike.
1. Action for Someone's Sake
The essence of helping lies in its intentionality. Unlike the passive nature of pushing more ads into the ether or the impersonal aspect of cold outreach, helping is a deliberate act of stepping into another's shoes and addressing their needs or challenges.
It's about creating value without the immediate expectation of return.
This shift from self-serving actions to others-centric activities is not just noble; it’s strategic. By focusing on helping, you organically build a network of individuals who are touched by your genuine concern and assistance.
And it will keep you busy. With the instantaneous reward of feeling connected and productive.
2. The Boomerang Effect
I feel cheap even discussing this. But…
One of the most magical aspects of helping others is the boomerang effect it creates. While the primary motivation to help shouldn't be to receive, the reality is that kindness and assistance often return to the giver in unexpected and abundant ways.
This reciprocity isn't merely transactional; it's relational. And it occurs naturally. It’s a law of the universe.
When you help someone, whether by solving a problem or offering support, you plant seeds of goodwill that are likely to grow and return to you in form of opportunities, referrals, and tangible help when you least expect it but most need it.
This is how I can turn nothing into $20k a month in a few months. I have 20 years of seeds planted.
3. Escaping the Mental Maze
Incessantly worrying about sales, marketing strategies, and business growth can lead to a detrimental mental loop, where the more you think, the less you do. You think you’re busy, but are you being effective?
Helping others serves as a powerful antidote to this.
When you shift your focus from your problems to solving someone else’s, not only do you break free from your own overthinking, but you also find yourself in a proactive stance, making a difference in real-time. This action-oriented approach not only contributes to solving others' problems but also instills a sense of accomplishment and purpose in your own life, reducing stress and enhancing your mental wellbeing.
4. Deepening Relationships
In the digital age, where connections can be as fleeting as a swipe on a screen, genuinely helping someone can cement a relationship far more effectively than any traditional networking effort.
When you solve someone's problem or aid them in a meaningful way, you're not just another contact; you become a valued part of their story.
This deepens the relationship beyond the superficial levels often maintained in professional contexts, paving the way for stronger, more genuine connections that can lead to lasting friendships and business relationships grounded in trust and mutual respect.
5. The Ripple Effect
The impact of helping someone extends far beyond the immediate interaction. Each act of assistance has the potential to inspire others to do the same, creating a ripple effect that can transform communities.
This ripple effect not only amplifies the initial act of kindness but also fosters a culture of support and generosity, breaking down barriers and building bridges in personal and professional worlds alike.
In conclusion, while the pursuit of more advertisements, more cold calls, and more direct messages can seem like the straightforward path to growth, the strategy of helping others offers a more enriching journey. This approach not only elevates others but also enhances our own lives, relationships, and businesses in profound ways.
By choosing to help, we embrace a method of interaction that is inherently more human, more meaningful, and ultimately more rewarding. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, let us remember that there is virtually no problem that cannot be alleviated, if not solved, by reaching outside of ourselves to lend a hand.
In doing so, we discover that the most powerful tool at our disposal is not our marketing budget, but our capacity to help.
